NYFW DAY 5

12:27 AM

And here comes the first day of New York Fashion Week. The next few weeks we will be covering all the fashion shows from all the fashion weeks around the world (London, Milan and of course Paris). But let's start with our favourite one of all, New York. Last year we decided to create daily posts, with all the highlights and you loved it. That is why we will continue cover all the shows in this way. For those that are new readers: This means that the post will have not only a brief presentation of the runways, but there will be beauty trends and of course celebrity scoop featured as well. We hope that you like our idea for covering the shows! Stay tuned and let the fashion week begin...

In case you missed the previews days click the links bellow: DAY 1,  DAY 2, DAY 3, DAY 4

I will start the post with the first show of the day and as you can understand we are talking about Victoria Beckham. This year, Victoria Beckham presented a slight different collection for spring/summer 2017! Slouchy pajama-style pants and clingy knit brands were for sure our favorite trends of this fashion show. Silk and velvet were the main fabrics of the runway and our opinion is that velvet; is the king of fabrics for this spring. All those creations were combined with flat knee-high boots made from canvas and leather. Main colors were peppermint, lilac and of course prints. For this season, Beckham decided to create delicate floral motifs on her clothes.

Joseph Altuzarra was inspired for this collection by the film of David Lynch "Wild at Heart".  What we really loved from it, were those amazing hot pink creations combined with pairs of striped briefs. But what about those python prints or those sexy army pencil skirts piped in leather and snake? Well, we loved them too. This runway had everything and our favorite emoji couldn't be missed of the show. I am talking about the lemon one (🍋). Ruffled slip dresses with sequined lemons, little cherry prints and other sundry fruits were probably our must-have, creations! As you saw from VB show, bras are the highlight of this fashion week with the difference, that now are ruffled! Well, we love them both!

Let's move on with another fascinating show; And the reason why I pick the word fascinating is because J.Crew presentation, was everything we wanted to see. Real people, no models, real employees of this company wearing the pieces of this collection and in my opinion that was awesome. In a world of perfection, is so good to see that those clothes can actually be seen on normal people! But let's talk a little bit about the collection. The new designer of the company, Somsack Sikhounmuong, decided to create a line with an emphasis on the evening wear wardrobe; kicky little shorts in pastel pink, overalls, gossamer trousers, marine stripe sweater all in sequins were some of the highlights of the presentation. One thing is sure; that we cannot wait to see more presentations of J.Crew and their new designer!

P R A B A L   G U R U N G. Yeah, you might already understand that this was my favorite show of the day. I was expecting it for ages and the day came and as you can imagine Gurung didn't let me down. This collection was inspired by Gloria Steinmen; an American feminist, a social and political activist, a journalist. As you can come to a conclusion that this fashion show had a big political statement. On the runway, statement tees and bias-cut silk dresses were the creations for the customers that are not afraid to make a political statement. For the other ones, that they just love Prabal's clothes he made for us; airy, feminine flower printed or not, dresses, amazing oversized suits combined with silk maxi skirts and of course tees with oversized sleeves that gave a different tone to the whole outfit.

Last but not least of DAY 5 is the brand TOME. Both of the designers have a clear image about how they want to create their clothes and they have proved it through out their fashion shows. The main colors that they love are black and white. This season we saw a lot those too but in a more sensual way. So on the runway we saw a lot of geometrical prints, strips and flowers as prints. But the duo didn't stop there. Another highlight of their show was those amazing ruffled dresses and bras. From printed, see-through dresses to silk, maxi skirts till striped trousers and layering tops, this collections was one of their best!

And now it is time for our beloved front row stars. As you might understand DAY 5 had a lot of big brands so celebrities couldn't be missed from the front row seats. So, we saw Giovanna Battaglia and Olivia Palermo at the first seats of Altuzarra fashion show. As it was expected Beckham family couldn't miss Victoria's fashion show, so here we have David and his son Brooklyn. Plus next to them, it was Anna Wintour watching everything!
Let's move forward to parties! Where fun and fashion are one! We will start with the 5th anniversary party of Tome with MAC. I know you are already in love with the set of this party. The designers decided to host it, at probably, the best location; the famous Café Henrie. This tiny restaurant was transformed into a sparkling, full with mini bottles of champagnes heaven. Many celebrities were there such as Toni Garrn, TK Wonder and Cipriana Quann.

Let's close our party sessions with a dinner hosted by DVF in favor of their new creative director; Jonathan Saunders. People of fashion, models and friends of Diane were there. While Hamish Bowles was chatting with Dasha Zhukova and David Geffen, models such as Karlie Kloss,  Jessica Hart and our favorite fashion blogger Leandra Medine enjoyed their cocktails after those mini photoshoots.

Last but not least we have; Prabal Gurung after party, co-hosted by model Hailey Baldwin. The designer celebrated not only his amazing latest campaign but also his launch of this new athleisurewear brand. The elegant Clocktower of the New York Edition Hotel was a gaggle of models, editors and social media stars!
